Very Large Array (NGVLA)
The NGVLA is the next generation USA based Very Large Array that will be built in the 2020..2030 timeframe, if it receives approval for funding.
As of 2015, the NGVLA does not exist, has not been approved, is not funded, and is not officially supported by NRAO. However, it does exist as a concept, and work is being done to develop cost models to better understand what can be done at various costs. The concept is leaning in the direction of something like 256 antennas, 18meters in diameter, with 1..115GHz bandwidth in 3 receivers. The Caltech Microwave Research Group is interested in developing Feeds, LNA's and Receivers for the NGVLA.
